Farewell - BSY and YSY

August is really full of sudden events. We rejoice with Shu Ying (YSY) and Zoe (BSY) for getting a place to further their study in UK. Both of them will be leaving in early/mid-Setptember.

We will have a farewell for them on 29th of August (Wednesday) evening at the Ikan Bakar place opposite Seagate (yes, the place where we had farewell for Abigail, Kheong, E Jian, and William). Wow, what a place for farewell.

Eventful August

August 2007 is really a busy months with so many happenings until everyone gets extremely busy.

Youth Outing (Kayak-ing at Penang Watersport Center) - August 11

We had fun and there were about 14 of us. Jocelyn brought her friend (same sir name with Zoe, but pronounced as Mah instead of Beh). Six boats sailed out to the open sea for an hour, good experience for the younger youths (Silas, Kar Hao, Chin Hun, Joshua, and Renuga).

Uncle Thomas' Memorial/Funeral Service - August 12 to August 16

It was really a sudden news for everyone at BOG to see Thomas leaving us and entered into the presence of the Father. This has confirmed through a dream from Sister Grace Chuah this morning at Sungai Ara BOG. Stay tuned for more update from pastor regarding the dream of Thomas in heaven.

Personally, I met Thomas since 1997. Every Sunday, we will meet each other in Balik Pulau Outreach church. He teamworked with pastor in Balik Pulau for the outreach work and had brought many lost souls into the kingdom of God. He even followed us to the youth mission trip in Cameron Highlands. He had a very strong Father's Heart towards the "prodigal sons" of BOG Outreach (oh yeah, there were many of them, betrayed him and pastor and came back completely broken).

Everytime when he lead the hokkien song during Sunday worship, i need a lot of wisdom to follow his singing style. I don't consider myself pro in guitar strumming, but when come to supporting Thomas in hokkien song singing, all pros' knowledge will be leveled to zero. Thomas doesn't have tone and he doesn't have timing (tempo), but one thing for sure is, he sang with all his heart, not towards the congregation, but towards God. Often, he will shout in singing and often, tears would flow down. At first, I couldn't really synchronize with him (sometimes 2/4, then it would go to 3/4, then down to 6/8, then up to 4/4, and all the sudden can come out 1/16), yet in my deepest heart, a still small voice spoke to me, "I like his worship, that's the kind of worship that I longed for", being a guitarist, I challenged God on that, but of course, I lost. John 4:24 says that the true worshiper is to worship the Father in spirit and in truth, not in good tempo and good musical knowledge.

Like pastor had mentioned, Thomas had finished his work on this earth and it is time to go home. When a fruit is ripped, it is time to pluck and eat it, if not, it will be rotten. So. when the job is finished, it is time means it is time. Human mind often thinks that the work has not done, but to God, he had finished means he had finished. Many mourns for Yeshua, "why just 3 years?" "Why left behind the 11 beloved disciples?" Yet, Yeshua said, "It is finished". For Balik Pulau, many lives were impacted and many will be coming into the kingdom of God; at the same time, many will be rised up as harvesters. A greater move will come.

Please continue to pray for the family members so that they will be strengthened: Mary Lam, Johnson Lam, and Peter Lam.

Youth Outing (Rush Ratatouille Hour 3) - August 18

We had two movies on the same day! We watched Ratatouille with the CH at 1220; then we rested one hour at the dim sum place, we then proceed to watch Rush Hour 3 at 1530. We were done at around 1800. Dan and Mei Wan were with us too, but they were watching Transformer. Buy 1 get 1 free, what a good deal. We tried to say hello to Roy (which we always did everytime we were at Queensbay) but he was too busy entertaining customers in Hush Puppies. Good business, Roy must be praying for the shop all the time.
